One might say game day is like fashion week for Louisiana? Maybe? Well it sure is a great excuse to dress up around here…
Since there are so many game days each season, it’s fun for me to experiment with my outfits rather than feel like I have to commit to one perfectly thought-out look for one occasion. This season you’ll find me in matching sets, sneakers, light-weight earrings, and my beloved belt bag instead of a clear purse. All of these pieces will keep me cool and comfy with minimal effort. Also, I tend to stay away from wearing purple and gold together— sorry LSU, they clash! (Check me and some other local bloggers out in the InRegister for some tailgate outfit inspo!)
Unfortunately this set is no longer available on Zara, but here is one with the same print. The pants are the same; Zara must have just changed up the top for fall. I can’t stand the clear bags, so I’ve opted to this hands-free handmade leather piece from a local artist. You can check them out on Facebook (Sweet Leather) and Instagram (@sweetleathergoods)! My shoes are new this summer, so currently they’re up for grabs on Club Monaco!
My bestie gal Madison over at LGIP and I were chatting about how to get more wear out of your game day clothes, and the answer is simple. The key to tailgate-fashion-success is by wearing muted hues of purple and yellow with neutrals. This way, you don’t have to buy clothes that you can ONLY wear for game days! Mixing these pieces into your every day wardrobe is much more plausible than buying something that you’ll only wear once a year, maybe. We’re all in luck this season– mustard is reeeal big for fall! PS: Madison styled your classic cheetah print and denim LSU style over on her blog! Animal print is back, people, so make sure to check her look out to get in on the trend. (If only you people knew how often Madison and I talk about clothes… I forgot to mention we work in retail together so can you imagine?)
You will not catch me in anything that says “LSU” or is vibrant purple with mustard colored lace. Ladies, leave that one to our toddlers. There are so many great shades of purple and yellow, and with the internet, there is no limit to what you can find. Check sites like Storets, Zara, ASOS, Revolve… anywhere you can find affordable stuff is a good option! Don’t buy something that will get destroyed by shotgunned beers and flying drinks in the stadium! Below I’ve linked a few cute options I found on each website.
Happy game day and GEAUX TIGAAHS
