Weekend Getaway to NYC

Now that rush is finally over, I’m finally getting a chance to tell you all about my little weekend trip to New York with my coworkers! We spent three days in the city and each was jammed-packed with museums, shopping, and incredible food. The trip started off very rocky (a 9 hour flight delay and a twin sized bed with walls that hit each side of the bed) but the delirium probably made it so much better, honestly. We laughed at things that weren’t even remotely funny and we rallied like rockstars. Did I mention we met Will Smith?

I don’t remember doing half of the things we did this day, but all that matters is that I looked good 🙂 We went to the Modern Museum of Art, walked down 5th Ave, got a quick lunch in Grande Central Station, and went to Klienfeld’s after hours. Our old manager at I Do Bridal Couture works there now and gave us the grand tour. And no, I didn’t see Randy unfortunately. We ended our first night at the top of the Empire State Building. It’s a million times more incredible to see the entire city at night; the lights are incomparable.

Booties might not be the best walking shoes, but I just had to do it. I loved the contrast between them and my all-white base pieces. This jacket is very light, so the temperature wasn’t an issue.

Day two was my favorite day of the trip! We had coffee in Times Square after we watched Good Morning America from outside of the building, and then we went to my favorite brunch spot in the city. Sarabeth’s on Park Ave, I HIGHLY recommend. After walking through Central Park, we went to this year’s Met fashion exhibit, Manus X Machina, and I actually had tears in my eyes. Holy moly it’s fantastic! We got a quick snack at Serendipity’s before catching a late show of Phantom of the Opera (luv luv luv).

This floral wrap dress was so cool and comfy. The pattern wasn’t the nicest but the shape of the dress made it brunch and play appropriate. My favorite gold sneakers were perfect for the long treks around the city and gave the outfit a little shine. I wore a multi-blue-colored beaded choker to make the blue in my dress pop and it brought in some edge to this girly dress.

I changed my mind, this was definitely the best day… It was very relaxed and low-key. We spent the day right outside of Manhattan, downtown and in Chelsea. After being totally drained from the 9/11 Museum, we went to lunch on the Hudson River called Pier 66 Miritime. SO good and such a great little spot! We just explored the outskirts of the city after that. We went to the Highline (my absolute favorite spot in New York), hung out in the Meatpacking District, did some haggling in Chinatown, and got a New York slice of pizza. For dinner, we went to Beauty and Essex. It’s almost like a speak easy; it’s a bar, lounge and restaurant located inside of a consignment shop! Incredible food, drinks, and service.

My denim on denim was my favorite outfit. It was breathable, comfy, and I felt secure in what I was wearing. I added a silk scarf and my gold sneaks for some pizzaz.

Weekend trips don’t always go as planned, and this one didn’t necessarily either. But check out my Odyssey article to see why I encourage taking them anyway!
