High-Low Hems

I feel like a real blogger today! I took a little trip downtown to get some good shots for this post because I was so excited to share this outfit with everyone. I scored this midi high-low hem skirt at a local boutique in New York this summer and was itching for the chance to style it! I love working with clothes like this skirt because it can become anything from fun and flirty so sophisticated and classic. As bold as it is, it can still be versatile!

This skirt is pretty hard to dress down since the fabric is so nice, so I settled for a good in-between. A graphic tee and mules are some of my favorite pieces to play with because they can simplify or amplify any outfit, depending on what you wear them with. Unfortunately for me, I almost always have to wear heels with long skirts or dresses but it worked for the better in this situation. My maroon mules are perfect for fall since the color and fabrics are so rich. The tee is definitely a summer shirt but can easily be warmed up with a jacket. A denim jacket is such an ideal piece for the transition seasons. I love the way all the different styles play off of each other in this outfit; they’re all so easy to pick apart and mix and match.

I loved dressing up this skirt; I felt like I should’ve been in Sex in the City… I even got a few whistles from some construction workers. I’m pretty modest when it comes to dressing so this top was a risk for me but I love it! Luckily I have a short torso that compensated for the lack of shirt. The ice-blue hue in the shirt is such an intense contrast against the matte black. Surprisingly this shirt is really warm considering how little fabric there is… My 100-strand pearls and classic black pumps instantly add elegance to this outfit!
