Sophisticated Skirts

I know I’m taking a big risk by styling a midi pencil skirt for people my age, but this one is just so incredibly awesome that I couldn’t resist. This BCBG find is perfect for winter socials– from the office to Christmas day. If your over the age of 16 (I’m talking to you college kids), you should definitely work on getting a job and this skirt might just inspire you to get one! Compliments to mom for letting my use everything in her closet for this shoot (luckily we’re the same size).

IMG_2983Matching leather and faux fur is one of the trendiest (and warmest) combos you could put together. I would probably wear this look for a Thanksgiving or Christmas party as is or on New Years Eve with a sparkly cropped jacket. I put on a deep purple lip and hunter green dangles to add some more dark hues without distracting too much from the awesomeness that is this skirt. Strappy stilettos are the way to go when wearing a mid length skirt! I added a bunch of gold bracelets to brighten up the outfit. Sleek, straight hair (unlike my untamed mane) would look best for a sophisticated look!

This look is perfect for a job in an office and, surprisingly, very comfortable! The brightness of this baby blue blouse brings out the blue tones in the skirt. It’s a very rare occasion when I wear silver, but I just couldn’t pass up the chance to wear this necklace. The blue stones darken its silver exterior, giving it a winter-y feel and adding to the coolness of skirt. The thick-strapped wedges give just the slightest bit of height and just the right amount of style without chopping off my little legs.

A final piece of advice on midi pencil skirts: always tuck in your shirt. It will cut you off like crazy if you don’t. Or go for a crop top, that’ll show off your waist just as well!

Did I mentioned everything I’m wearing in these pictures is my mom’s? Thanks Su, you rock.
